The scanner had a few issues, refusing to read proof sheet prints off memory card images. Closer inspection reveals the ink dots but this is not too distracting from the otherwise nice output. Photo printing is nice with rich colours and at normal viewing distances, good quality photo output.
Not only does this make mono printing very slow and expensive, but also means that black text that is printed has a faded, greyish appearance. The scanner side of the equation also turned out to be pretty good, with high levels of sharpness and fairly accurate colour rendition.
Verdict Basic, simple to use and with adequate results, the X looks good value for money particularly at the half price c3480 available.
